VFC Immigration Academy Curriculum

Self-paced Program Curriculum

A career in immigration law is challenging and rewarding. United States immigration law outlines the key rules from the federal government that relate to who is permitted to enter the U.S., including the amount of time the applicant is permitted to remain in the U.S.

For individuals who wish to become U.S. citizens, immigration law is critical to the naturalization process. Immigration law also deals with the detention and arrest of foreign nationals who enter the U.S. without permission, violate the duration period they are permitted to stay, or for other reasons, lose their status.

As a paralegal or legal assistant in immigration law, you will assist your attorney with a variety of tasks, including communications with clients, organization of documents, and preparing and filing petitions and applications, as well as managing the case from inception through resolution. During this course, you will learn how to manage specific cases with a focus on visas, asylum, removal proceedings, naturalization, and ultimately, citizenship if the client qualifies.
